Today I march for women. I march against Trump. I march against sexual and domestic violence against women by men. I march against the prostitution of women. I march against all porn. I march to protect my rights to women's space as a biological woman.
But today I march for my Helen too.
Helen is my best friend. Helen has survived two violent men. Helen has raised three beautiful children despite men who had their feet on her throat while she did it. Helen has worked multiple jobs for terrible pay for decades of time. Women do this. Women don't give up. Helen is a survivor.
She has a smile as big as the sky and a heart that never stops spreading love.
I love my Helen and she is dying. She should have lived a life free of male violence. All women should.
I march for my Helen.
